Mars Hill shuts out Emmanuel
The Mars Hill baseball team (3-8) shut out Emmanuel (10-4) by a score of 10-0 Tuesday afternoon.

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Mars Hill baseball team (3-8) shut out Emmanuel (10-4) by a score of 10-0 Tuesday afternoon.
The Lions plated six runs in the top of the third. Elec Yount's RBI double opened the scoring. Leading 2-0 later in the frame following an Emmanuel error, Jaden James' two-run single to left plated Alex Naran and Zach Weaver.
A bases loaded walk drawn by Toby Troutman and sacrifice fly off the bat of Chad Sikes capped off the inning.
Weaver extended the Lions lead to six with a two-run home run to left in the top of the fourth inning. In the top of the ninth, RBI doubles off the bats of Terick Bumgarner and Davis Anders pushed the Lions into double-digits.
Luke Hayes led the team with three hits while Weaver and James led Mars Hill with two RBI apiece.
Dearl Edens threw three innings, striking out five in the win.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference play on Friday, February 23 when they host UVA Wise. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
