Mars Hill shuts out Wasps in series finale

EMORY, Va. - The Mars Hill baseball team (16-29, 6-21 SAC) shutout Emory & Henry (10-35, 6-21 SAC) by a score of 11-0 in eight innings Sunday afternoon.
Paul Martin's RBI single opened the scoring in the top of the first. Later in the frame, a Wasps' wild pitch allowed Zach Weaver to score Mars Hill's second run.
The Lions plated four in the second to extend their lead to six, highlighted by Jaden James' solo home run to left. In the fourth, Chris Bleeker plated James with a RBI double and later scored off of a RBI single off the bat of Elec Yount.
In the top of the fifth, Weaver smashed a solo home run to left to put Mars Hill up by nine. The Lions tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth with a RBI groundout off the bat of Tai Gilbert and a double that plated Yount off the bat of Davis Anders.
Five Lions recorded two hits on the day while Weaver led all players with two RBI.
Brennan Williams earned his second win on the year, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits in the seven innings thrown.
Mars Hill returns home on Tuesday, April 23 when they host Emmanuel in non-conference play. First pitch at Henderson Field is set for 2 p.m.
