
MHU scores three unanswered, tie series with Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (2-3) defeated Lee (4-2) by a score of 5-4 Saturday afternoon in game two of their weekend series.
Mars Hill scored three unanswered runs from the top of the seventh on to complete the comeback win. In the seventh, Elec Yount plated Toby Troutman off of a sacrifice fly.
In the ninth, Zach Weaver's double down the left field line scored Yount for the tying run. Later in the frame, Tai Gilbert brought Weaver home with the game-winning RBI single to right field.
Yount opened the scoring in the first with a double down the left field line, scoring Trey Putnam. Yount scored the second run of the inning off of Alex Naran's RBI double, also down the left field line.
The Flames tied the contest at two in the third and later in the frame, took the 3-2 lead. They doubled up the Lions in the bottom of the sixth off of Cam Suto's RBI single to right.
Yount led the Lions with two hits and two RBI. Putnam and Jaden James also recorded two hits.
Nate Crissey earned his second win of the season, throwing three scoreless innings, striking out four. Grady Bivens allowed four runs on three hits in 5.0 innings in the start.
The Lions close out the series on Sunday, February 11 with a first pitch set for 1 p.m.
