SALISBURY, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (13-25, 4-17 SAC) was swept by No. 21 Catawba (29-9, 17-4 SAC) in their three-game series this past weekend.
GAME ONE: CAT 4, MHU 1
Catawba scored four unanswered runs in game one Friday afternoon to take the series opener.
Tied at one after four, the Indians recorded a pair of RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth to take the 3-1 lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Catawba added an insurance run to go up 4-1.
Alex Naran opened the scoring in the top of the third with a RBI single to right that plated Chad Sikes.
GAME TWO: CAT 11, MHU 0 - 7 Innings
Catawba held Mars Hill to just two hits in Saturday's first game. Dylan Driver and Sam Hunter each recorded three RBI while Driver and Levi Perrell led all players with three hits.
Payne Stolsworth struck out 11 in the complete game victory.
GAME THREE: CAT 4, MHU 0
To close out the weekend, the Indians once again held Mars Hill scoreless, completing the sweep with a 4-0 win in Saturday's second game.
All four runs were scored in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Bo Rusher III's two-run single.
Zach Weaver, Paul Martin, Trey Putnam, Elec Yount, and Davis Anders each recorded a hit for the Lions.
Mars Hill takes on Erskine on Tuesday, April 9 in non-conference play on the road. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
