
Mars Hill downed in series finale with Wingate
The Mars Hill baseball team (10-20, 3-12 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (19-10, 11-4 SAC) by a score of 13-3 in eight innings Sunday afternoon.

WINGATE, N.C. - The Mars Hill baseball team (10-20, 3-12 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (19-10, 11-4 SAC) by a score of 13-3 in eight innings Sunday afternoon.
Wingate led 2-0 after two innings. Elec Yount's RBI single plated Chad Sikes to cut the lead in half. After a scoreless fourth, Sikes scored the tying run off of a Wingate error in the top of the fifth.
The Bulldogs retook the lead in the bottom half of the frame, plating four runs. In the sixth, they tacked on three more runs to go up 9-2.
With runners on second and third, a Wingate wild pitch allowed Alex Naran to score the Lions' third and final run of the game.
Cam Harris hit a solo home run while Andrew McKay hit a three-run shot in the bottom of the eighth to secure the run-rule win.
Yount and Naran led the Lions with two hits apiece. Harris led Wingate with two hits while McKay led all players with three RBI.
Mars Hill returns to action on Tuesday, March 26 when they face Young Harris on the road. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
