
Lions fall in series opener against Lee
The Mars Hill baseball team (1-3) was defeated by Lee (4-1) by a score of 18-4 Friday afternoon in the series opener.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (1-3) was defeated by Lee (4-1) by a score of 18-4 Friday afternoon in the series opener.
The Flames opened the game with eight runs in the first, highlighted by a two-run double from Brandon Daniels and a two-run single off the bat of Cam Suto. In the top of the second, Jaden James broke Lee's shutout bid with a RBI single to left field.
Lee tacked on four more runs in the fourth and five in the fifth. After scoreless sixth and seventh innings, the Lions plated three in the top of the ninth. Quinn Rembert plated two with a single through the right side, allowing Zach Weaver and Alex Naran to score. James picked up his second RBI with a sacrifice fly that saw Paul Martin cross home.
Brantly Cutler and Brock Sisson led all players with two hits apiece and three RBI. Jack Nedrow was credited with the win, striking out six in 5.0 innings, allowing just one run off five hits.
The Lions play game two on Saturday, February 10. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
